Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has said the removal of vendors from streets is the responsibility of local authorities, not central Government.

Read E-PaperZiyambi said councils and their officials are responsible for enforcing municipal by-laws that regulate vending and activities on public roads.
“Central Government should not be blamed when vendors are removed from areas where vending is not permitted,” he said.
According to Hon Ziyambi, local authorities have the legal responsibility to manage public spaces and ensure that their by-laws are followed.
The remarks come as authorities continue efforts to control illegal vending and restore order in urban areas.
