Police said Manjokota, who is married, had booked a room at Cool Banana Lodge with Sebastian Gawa.
According to the police account, Gawa fell asleep while the two were at the lodge. Upon waking up, he allegedly discovered that his cash and cellphone were missing, prompting him to report the incident to the police.
Investigations reportedly led detectives to CCTV footage showing Manjokota leaving the premises at around 3am, a timeline police said was consistent with the complainant’s account.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was expected to appear in court.
“Police arrested a Southley Park woman for theft involving US$4,000,” said Insp Chakanza.
“The suspect is expected to appear in court tomorrow (today).”
