Ubiribo, 43, was visiting Bangkok with his wife, Danielle Simba Allen, in March when he chose to undergo the procedure at a clinic in the Thai capital.

Details presented at an inquest at the Inner West London Coroners’ Court indicated that doctors injected approximately 40 millilitres of hyaluronic acid and lidocaine into his penis as part of the treatment.

Following the procedure, Ubiribo went for a massage. However, he soon complained of chest pain and collapsed twice. He was taken by ambulance to Sukhumvit Hospital, where he was initially conscious and able to communicate with medical staff.

His wife told doctors that he had recently undergone a penis filler procedure.

Medical staff recommended that Ubiribo undergo a CT scan to determine the cause of his symptoms. However, his condition deteriorated and he lost consciousness before the scan could be completed.

Doctors later diagnosed him with a pulmonary embolism, a serious condition that occurs when a blood vessel supplying the lungs becomes blocked.

Ubiribo was transferred to intensive care, where medical staff reportedly carried out CPR for about 100 minutes. Despite prolonged efforts to revive him, he died shortly afterwards.

A postmortem examination conducted in the UK later raised concerns that material from the filler had entered his lungs.

Pathologist John du Parcq told the inquest that cellular material found in Ubiribo’s lungs was consistent with the hyaluronic acid used during the procedure. He said the findings supported a diagnosis of pulmonary embolism and were also consistent with the results of an earlier autopsy carried out in Thailand.

The case highlights the potentially serious risks associated with cosmetic procedures, particularly when complications occur after treatment.
