The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is searching for opposition activist Godfrey Karembera, popularly known as Madzibaba Veshanduko, in connection with allegations of undermining police authority.
In a statement released on Tuesday, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi called on members of the public to assist with information that could help police locate Karembera.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is seeking information on the location and whereabouts of Madzibaba ‘Veshanduko’ — Godfrey Karembera in connection with reports of undermining police authority,” said Commissioner Nyathi.
The latest development comes only weeks after Karembera regained his freedom following seven months in custody over allegations of inciting public violence.
Karembera, who is widely known for supporting former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa, has become a familiar figure in opposition politics due to his distinctive religious attire adorned in opposition colours, earning him the nickname **”Madzibaba Veshanduko”** (Prophet of Change).
He has previously been arrested on a number of occasions over alleged offences linked to political activities, including accusations of public disorder and organising demonstrations.
Police have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the latest allegations of undermining police authority, nor have they confirmed whether a warrant of arrest has been issued against the activist.
