President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on ZANU-PF women to take a leading role in driving Zimbabwe’s development agenda, describing the Women’s League as a dependable pillar of the ruling party and a key force in promoting unity, economic transformation and grassroots mobilisation.
Addressing the ZANU-PF Women’s League Conference in Harare on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa challenged women to remain steadfast in advancing the party’s vision while contributing meaningfully to national development through agriculture, entrepreneurship and community initiatives.
“The Women’s League remains a dependable pillar of our revolutionary Party. Continue to strengthen our structures and mobilise our people in unity and discipline,” President Mnangagwa said.
The President commended the Women’s League for its contribution to both the party and the country’s development, saying women have a critical role to play in building resilient families, vibrant communities and a prosperous Zimbabwe.
He reaffirmed the Second Republic’s commitment to women empowerment, urging women to take advantage of opportunities being created through Government programmes designed to improve livelihoods and promote inclusive economic growth.
“My Government will continue to implement policies and programmes that empower women. No one and no place must be left behind as we build our country,” he said.
President Mnangagwa further encouraged women to actively participate in productive sectors of the economy, saying their involvement in agriculture, entrepreneurship and business was essential to achieving the country’s Vision 2030 target of attaining upper-middle-income status.
“I urge you to remain hardworking, patriotic and united as we march towards the attainment of Vision 2030,” he said.
The President also called on delegates to continue promoting peace, unity and social cohesion within their communities, stressing that national development can only be achieved in a peaceful and stable environment.
The conference, attended by Women’s League leaders and delegates from all the country’s provinces, focused on strengthening the organisation, enhancing women’s participation in leadership and accelerating grassroots mobilisation in support of the party’s developmental agenda.
President Mnangagwa was accompanied by ZANU-PF Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Cde Kembo Mohadi, with the party’s senior leadership presenting a united front at the gathering as delegates reaffirmed their commitment to the party’s vision and national development objectives.
