President Emmerson Mnangagwa has put forward 10 nominees for appointment to the Senate following the coming into effect of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3.

The names were announced in the National Assembly by Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda, who said the nominees were selected on the basis of their professional expertise and competencies.
Those nominated are Jabulani Sibanda, Mary Mliswa, Nokuthula Matsikenyere, Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Godwills Masimirembwa, Lucy Chitaga, Retired Major-General Gibson Mashingaidze, Makhosini Hlongwane, Brilliant Dube and Irene Mutumba.
Advocate Mudenda said the nominations were made after consultations with the National Assembly and indicated that President Mnangagwa intends to appoint the 10 individuals as Senators.
The move comes after the enactment of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, which introduced changes to the composition of the Senate and the process through which some of its members are appointed.
