In a statement, Sakupwanya said the reported figures were “deeply concerning” and underscored the important role being played by Scottland Clinic in providing healthcare services to residents.

While noting that he did not have access to the official consolidated health statistics, Sakupwanya said the situation would require urgent attention if the figures being reported were confirmed.

He commended Scottland Clinic for providing free screening, treatment and community outreach programmes to residents of Mabvuku-Tafara and surrounding communities.

According to Sakupwanya, the clinic’s interventions are helping residents access essential healthcare while also drawing attention to emerging health challenges within the community.

“By providing free screening, treatment, and community outreach to residents of Mabvuku Tafara and surrounding areas, Scottland Clinic is not only delivering essential care but also raising the alarm and helping to save lives,” he said.

The legislator said he remained committed to supporting the clinic and engaging the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to improve healthcare delivery in the constituency.

“We remain committed to supporting the clinic and working with the Ministry of Health and partners to ensure our people get the healthcare they deserve,” Sakupwanya said.

His remarks come amid growing attention on health challenges in Mabvuku-Tafara, with local healthcare providers calling for greater awareness, prevention, testing and early treatment.

Sakupwanya said collaboration between the government, healthcare providers and other stakeholders would be essential in addressing the health concerns affecting residents.
