The newly formed side clinched the title in their maiden season, securing promotion to the Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League after just one campaign in the Northern Region league.
Their defeat in the final match was their only loss of the season, having recorded 18 wins and one draw in their 20-game campaign.
The achievement mirrors that of the men’s Scottland FC team, who also secured promotion to the top flight after their maiden season in the Northern Region Soccer League.
Speaking after the coronation ceremony, Scottland Queens captain Charity Karuru expressed her delight at winning the title, adding that the team was ready for the challenge of competing in the top-flight league.
“I am very happy that we have won the title. I think we are going to do our best in the league, although there are certain areas we need to polish,” said Karuru.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Scottland Queens striker Shantel Gwenhamo enjoyed an outstanding campaign, finishing the season with 38 goals.
Gwenhamo credited her coaches for their continued encouragement and motivation throughout the season.
“I want to thank my coaches, who kept motivating me to work hard. Sometimes it was difficult, but they continued to encourage me,” she said.
