Zimbabwe have been ordered to play their next home international match behind closed doors after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) took disciplinary action over incidents during the Warriors’ 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo on 28 September.

Read E-PaperThe CAF Disciplinary Committee has also imposed a fine on the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) following the incidents at the National Sports Stadium, which included the death of a supporter and a pitch invasion after the match.
The Warriors were beaten 2-1 by DR Congo, with the result overshadowed by the fatal incident and the scenes that followed the final whistle.
The punishment is another setback for Zimbabwe, particularly after the National Sports Stadium underwent extensive renovations and returned to international football following a lengthy absence.
