In a powerful demonstration of the Second Republic’s commitment to leaving no one behind, Zanu PF National Secretary for Women’s Affairs and Politburo Member, Senator Cde Mabel Chinomona, led the Harare Provincial Women’s League in a major food donation drive to children’s homes in Epworth.

The donation is part of the ruling party’s festive season outreach programme, aimed at supporting institutions and communities in need during this period.

The event, held at Matthew Rusike Children’s Home on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, saw the Women’s League deliver substantial consignments of bulk rice, sugar and cooking oil to four institutions-Matthew Rusike Children’s Home, Chinyaradzo Children’s Home, Harare Children’s Home and the Tamuka Foundation.

The foodstuffs, received by the heads of the respective homes, were donated through the vision of His Excellency, President Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Cde Chinomona, who was accompanied by senior national Women’s League leadership, emphasized the crucial role of women in national development and child welfare.

“The Women’s League is the messenger of the President’s love, delivering food to ensure that our children in homes get adequate nourishment.

“As women, we have a great responsibility at home. We cook and take care of children, and today we are extending that care to the wider Zimbabwean family,” said Cde Chinomona.

She further praised the Second Republic’s developmental trajectory.

“President Mnangagwa is a father with love and care for the Zimbabwean family. His leadership ensures that no child is left behind, and we are here to fulfill that vision.

“This programme of receiving food for the children went very well. The children and their caregivers are full of joy, ululating and dancing.

This is what development looks like, it is tangible and it touches hearts,” said Cde Chinomona.

Provincial Chairlady Cde Babra Mwale, who led the Harare Province delegation, testified to the effective leadership at the national level.

“The Women’s League is precious to us. The leadership of Secretary Chinomona makes our work successful and pleases all the women in the Women’s League. We are united in our goal to serve the people,” said Cde Mwale.

Echoing these sentiments, National Secretary for External Affairs and Central Committee Member Cde Betty Nhambu Kaseke, who was also present, spoke on the unity and progress under the President’s leadership. “We now eat ‘Mudododo’ through the works of His Excellency President Mnangagwa. Mukuru Shumba Murambwi vanotigonera baba vedu. We thank the President for remembering the children, as this is a story of development in all matters,” said Cde Kaseke.

The heads of the children’s homes were reportedly overjoyed, offering prayers of gratitude to the President and the Women’s League for the timely donation. They described the President as a leader who truly cares for the welfare of the vulnerable.

The event concluded with the Women’s League reiterating their commitment to national development and the achievement of Vision 2030.
