Couple nabbed in dagga smuggling ring

A couple travelling in a foreign-registered truck has been nabbed in what police are treating as a dagga smuggling ring after a checkpoint search uncovered a consignment of compressed dagga.

Dzinoreva Tafadzwa Jadson Brian (33) and Elizabeth Mugezelwa (44) were intercepted on Thursday, 29 October 2026, at a police checkpoint at the 288-kilometre peg along the Harare-Chirundu Road.

A search of the truck led to the recovery of 10 black plastics wrapped with yellow tape, containing compressed dagga.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrests, and the couple is expected to appear in court soon facing charges of unlawful possession of dagga.
