Addressing the 133rd session of the ZANU-PF Central Committee in Harare ahead of the party’s 23rd National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi, President Mnangagwa said internal divisions had no place in the ruling party.

“Preferences of cliques and narrow inclinations, among other retrogressive acts, have no place in our Party,” he said.

Emphasising his message in Shona, the President declared: “Hatidi mweya waRegioni muMusangano wedu,” warning against regionalism within the party.

He called on the Politburo and Central Committee to ensure that their deliberations produced practical resolutions aligned with ZANU-PF’s objectives and the country’s Vision 2030 development agenda.

“Our unity, peace, patriotism, hard-honest work, solidarity and quest for development must be defended by all cadres,” he said.

The warning comes as ZANU-PF prepares for its annual conference against a backdrop of debate surrounding leadership succession, proposed constitutional changes and the party’s future direction.

Cde Mnangagwa also urged party members to understand the difference between constructive criticism aimed at improving the organisation and actions that could undermine its cohesion.

He said party members should guard against personal ambitions and regional loyalties that risk weakening unity, stressing the need for collective commitment to the party’s goals and national development.
