Addressing party members during a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting in Goromonzi on Saturday, Cde Garwe said Members of Parliament, including himself, were contributing to the province’s fundraising drive.

“I was briefed last week that Cde Jere donated USD20 000. He is the MP of Murehwa West,” he said.

Cde Garwe also urged party members to support a Women’s League programme to be hosted by Cde Jere at a local primary school next week.

“He has told me that he will slaughter three beasts so there will be plenty of food for us to feast. So let us all go and support this programme,” he said.

The fundraising drive was discussed at the same meeting where ZANU PF Mashonaland East adopted resolutions calling for President Mnangagwa to remain both State President and the ruling party’s First Secretary until 2030, while also calling for the suspension of internal party elections until the same year.

The resolutions, which were adopted by the province on Saturday, will be submitted to the ruling party’s 2026 People’s Conference scheduled for October in Chinhoyi, Mashonaland West.

The resolutions were read by ZANU PF Mashonaland East provincial secretary for legal affairs Cde Pension Chiutsi, who said all districts in the province had endorsed them before they were formally adopted at provincial level.

“On the state of the party, the resolution is that the First Secretary of the ruling ZANU PF party and the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Cde ED Mnangagwa, remain in office up to 2030,” he said.

The province also resolved that the ZANU PF Constitution should be aligned with the Constitution of Zimbabwe following the constitutional amendment extending the presidential term.

“The other resolution, again on the state of the party, is that there be no ZANU PF party internal elections until 2030,” Cde Chiutsi said.

Cde Garwe said the resolutions would be forwarded to the national conference without alteration.

“We have started preparations for the 2026 conference. Preparations started at district level and resolutions were made which were presented today,” he said.

“Traditionally, ZANU PF holds annual conferences where resolutions from the provinces are tabled. All the resolutions brought forward today will be sent as they are. These resolutions are critical,” Cde Garwe said.
