Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi has been nominated for the 2026 Unstoppable Cabinet Minister of the Year Award, following recognition for her performance in Zimbabwe’s tourism sector.

Read E-PaperThe nomination comes after President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced during the 2026 performance contract signing and awards ceremony in Harare that Rwodzi had ranked first among 25 Cabinet ministers for their 2025 performance.
Hon Rwodzi was recognised for her role in the growth of Zimbabwe’s tourism industry, which recorded a 10 percent increase in international arrivals in 2025, reaching nearly 1.78 million visitors.
She has also been associated with campaigns aimed at promoting domestic tourism and attracting international visitors, including the ZimBho campaign.
The Minister received further recognition earlier this year after being named Tourism Minister of the Year (Africa) by the Pacific Area Travel Writers Association (PATWA) during ITB Berlin 2026.
The Unstoppable African Awards recognise African Cabinet ministers for initiatives involving administration, policy implementation and development.
Minister Rwodzi is among ministers from different African countries nominated for the 2026 award.
Voting for the award is currently open and will close on October 5, 2026.
Zimbabweans have been encouraged by the organisers and supporters of the nomination to participate in the voting process before the deadline.
