Zimbabwe has been elected to serve as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) after receiving overwhelming support in Wednesday’s vote, securing 182 out of 190 ballots cast.
The election represents a significant diplomatic achievement for the country and signals growing international confidence in Zimbabwe’s role on the global stage.
As a member of the Security Council, Zimbabwe will participate in discussions and decision-making on key issues relating to international peace, security, conflict resolution and global cooperation.
The successful bid is expected to enhance the country’s influence within the United Nations system and provide a stronger platform to contribute to international policy and security matters.
