The new packages will be introduced in Zimbabwe on November 5, 2026, with the official launch event scheduled for November 7 at Harare Gardens.

MultiChoice Zimbabwe Country Chief Executive Officer Edwina Korir said the changes were designed to meet the changing viewing preferences of customers while offering packages tailored to different interests.

β€œDStv’s strength is its combination of local, African entertainment, international content and unrivalled live sport in one place,” Korir said.

She said the company had redesigned its packages to provide subscribers with more choice, particularly those interested in general entertainment and live sports.

β€œWe have reimagined our packages to better reflect how customers watch today, with tailored options specifically for general entertainment and sports fans,” she said.

Under the new arrangement, DStv Access will be renamed DStv Starter, with the addition of 10 channels, including SuperSport KICKOFF and Wethu+.

DStv Family will become DStv Select, offering a combination of family entertainment, movies, series, selected sporting events and children’s programming.

DStv Compact will be split into two separate packages, DStv Movies & Series and DStv Sports, allowing customers to choose content according to their preferences.

The Movies & Series package will focus on films and television series, featuring content from channels such as M-Net, Discovery Channel and BBC Earth.

The DStv Sports package will offer 17 channels covering major football competitions, cricket, selected international club rugby, WWE and UFC.

At the premium end, DStv Premium will be renamed DStv Ultimate, combining the sports and movies and series offerings with additional premium sporting events.

These will include Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis tournaments and major golf competitions.

Korir said the revamped line-up would complement the company’s broader content strategy, which combines international programming with productions that reflect African experiences and interests.

β€œMultiChoice remains firmly committed to investing in local content and telling authentic African stories,” she said.

She added that the company was expanding its original productions across different markets to ensure audiences could enjoy African stories alongside international entertainment.

β€œWe believe MultiChoice has built an extraordinary connection with African audiences and a deep understanding of the stories they love to watch, with a passion that is shared by Canal+,” Korir said.

The launch will also be supported by the DStv Expect+ campaign, alongside a hardware promotion running until February 28, 2027.

Under the promotion, customers will be able to purchase selected decoders and satellite dish kits at discounted prices, as the company seeks to make its services more accessible.

Korir said the initiative was intended to improve access to DStv and increase value for subscribers.
