Manicaland Woman Arrested Over Dagga Cultivation

A woman has been arrested in Manicaland after police recovered 118 suspected dagga plants during a joint operation involving the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the National Anti-Corruption Association of Zimbabwe (NACAZ).

The operation took place on October 27 in Nyamashanga, Mushambi Village, under Chief Mutambara.

NACAZ members led by Thomas Ngirazi worked alongside officers from ZRP Cashel, under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Inspector Ariberito Mbuwa.

The suspect, identified as Maria Mawacha, was arrested on allegations of cultivating dagga.

NACAZ said the team recovered 118 suspected dagga plants, each measuring approximately 1.5 metres in height. Mawacha and the plants were subsequently taken to ZRP Cashel for further police procedures.

NACAZ Deputy Director of Operations Alvine Makufa confirmed the arrest but referred further questions about the case to the ZRP spokesperson for Manicaland Province, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka.
