Read E-PaperNyanga resident Mr Edgar Sadoma has emerged as the second grand car winner in the Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup promotion after winning a brand-new white Hyundai i10 sponsored by Delta Corporation.
The vehicle was officially handed over to Sadoma at a colourful ceremony held at Delta Corporation’s headquarters in Harare, bringing his journey in the highly subscribed consumer promotion to a memorable conclusion.
Sadoma’s win comes after Zvishavane resident Mr Esau Muguva became the first winner of a Hyundai i10 under the promotion. Coca-Cola’s official terms and conditions provided for two Hyundai i10 vehicles among thousands of prizes in the Zimbabwe campaign.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Delta Sparkling Beverages Marketing Executive Dr Claybough Mapfumo said the promotion attracted more than 1.3 million entries, highlighting the strong response from consumers across the country.
He congratulated Sadoma and his wife, Mrs Clementine Nyamundanda, and encouraged them to make good use of the vehicle while observing road safety.
“It is a pleasure to be here today as we celebrate a very special handover of the Coca-Cola World Cup promotion vehicle to our deserving grand winner. It was a tough and stiff competition indeed, but here he is reaping the fruits,” said Dr Mapfumo.
“Today is about more than receiving the keys to a vehicle. It is about turning an ordinary consumer moment into an extraordinary experience.”
Dr Mapfumo said Coca-Cola had a long-standing relationship with football, noting the brand’s association with the COPA Coca-Cola games in Zimbabwe.
“Football brings people together across generations, communities and borders, and the FIFA World Cup captures that spirit perhaps better than any other sporting event,” he said.
“Through this promotion, we wanted our consumers to experience some of that excitement, anticipation and possibility here at home.”
He thanked consumers who participated in the promotion, saying their continued engagement gave the company’s brands meaning.
For Sadoma, the prize was the result of repeatedly entering the promotion despite being teased by his workmates.
“I used to buy Coca-Cola almost every day because I’m an addict, and I would take the code and enter and some of my workmates used to laugh at me. Little did I know that the addiction would earn me this super brand-new car,” he said amid laughter.
The Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup promotion ran from June 1 to August 31, 2026, with participants entering through codes found under the crowns of qualifying 300ml returnable glass bottles. The official promotion offered two Hyundai i10 vehicles, alongside cash and airtime prizes, with weekly draws conducted throughout the campaign.
The promotion was designed to bring the excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup closer to Zimbabwean consumers while rewarding customers for their participation.
Sadoma now joins Muguva as one of the two Hyundai i10 winners from the Zimbabwe campaign.
