Zimbabwean football giants Dynamos F.C. have suspended head coach Genesis Mangombe with immediate effect while the club conducts investigations into several allegations of misconduct.
In a statement released by the club’s board, the suspension follows complaints reportedly raised by players and club officials concerning Mangombe’s conduct and adherence to internal procedures.
The concerns are said to have surfaced after a technical meeting held on 18 June 2026 at Glamis Arena.
According to the club, the allegations include claims of strained relations between the coach and members of the executive leadership, as well as disputes involving certain players, among them goalkeeper Idrissou Nfor Finiar and other senior squad members.
The club is also examining allegations that players were encouraged to participate in traditional rituals before matches, a practice Dynamos says would be inconsistent with club regulations and contractual obligations. Reports indicate that some players allegedly raised concerns about and objected to these practices.
Other issues under review include allegations relating to the handling of team kits, disruptions to match preparations, and decisions surrounding team management that the club believes may have affected performances in league fixtures, including encounters against Highlanders F.C. and CAPS United F.C. in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
The club further alleges that Mangombe did not consistently follow administrative procedures, including the submission of post-match reports to management, and that there were instances where instructions relating to matchday preparations at venues such as Barbourfields Stadium were allegedly not followed.
Dynamos says the allegations raise concerns about professionalism, discipline, and the overall management of the technical department, adding that the matter could have implications for the club’s reputation and the image of Zimbabwean football.
While the investigation is underway, Mangombe has been prohibited from participating in training sessions, matchday activities, and all official club functions. The club indicated that additional disciplinary measures could follow depending on the findings of the inquiry.
