Highlanders Football Club have moved to dismiss reports circulating on social media claiming that midfielder Mongameli Tshuma has completed a US$200 000 transfer to title-chasing Hardrock, saying negotiations for the player are still ongoing.
Bossi, acting chairman, Kindman Ndlovu, confirmed that Hardrock had expressed interest in signing the highly-rated midfielder and had submitted an offer but stressed that no agreement has been finalised.
“Nothing has been signed yet. We have held discussions with Hardrock, and they have shown interest in the player. Their offer is being considered, but we are also engaging other clubs who have shown interest,” Ndlovu said.
He added that Highlanders had received interest from other teams, including Caps United, Hunters and South Africa-based Kruger, as the club weighs the best option for both the player and the team.
The clarification comes after social media reports suggested that Hardrock had already secured Tshuma’s services in what would have been one of the biggest transfer deals in Zimbabwean football.
Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari recently acknowledged the growing interest in the midfielder, saying any move would only happen when it benefits both the player and the club.
Tshuma has been among Highlanders’ top performers this season, attracting attention from several local and regional clubs due to his consistent performances.
The midfielder continued to impress during the Highlanders’ Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash against Caps United at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday, where he produced a strong individual display despite Bosso suffering a 4-2 defeat.
